About Us

We treat diseases of the colon, rectum and anus, both medically and, if needed, surgically. Primary evaluation takes place in our comfortable office setting, where together, we will come up with a treatment plan. In-office procedures can be performed, including simple hemorrhoid excision, hemorrhoid banding, abscess drainage and flexible sigmoidoscopy. When feasible, we utilize advanced and cutting-edge surgical techniques including both laparoscopic and robotic abdominal and rectal surgery, transanal hemorrhoidal dearterialization, and sacral nerve stimulation for incontinence. We will discuss colon cancer screening if you are above the age of 45, or have a significant family history. This may be in the form of stool testing or endoscopy, which can be arranged through our office at various sites in the Troy, Royal Oak, West Bloomfield and Farmington Hills areas.

Founded in 2002, Oakland Colon and Rectal Associates P.C. is the office of Drs. Harry Wasvary, Jason Shellnut, Matthew Ziegler, Claire Peeples, and John Bauman. All of our physicians are Board Certified in General Surgery as well as Colon and Rectal Surgery and are on the staff at Corewell East William Beaumont University Hospital, as well as Trinity Health Oakland.
